
The College of Control and Systems Engineering Holds a Seminar on Cultural Diversity

The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Department, organized a seminar entitled “Enhancing Participants’ Understanding of Diverse Cultures and Perspectives” on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The seminar was supervised by Dr. Mohsen Hassan Chaloub and Dr. Wissam Kamel Mazloum, members of the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit.
The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Farah Falih Hassan and Assistant Professor Alia Abdul-Ridha Abbas. They discussed the concept of cultural diversity, explaining that it includes language, verbal and nonverbal communication, social customs and traditions, such as greetings and celebrations, as well as religious values and beliefs and their impact on daily behavior.
They also emphasized that understanding diverse cultures enhances effective communication, reduces misunderstandings between individuals and communities, contributes to improving cooperation in work and study environments, and encourages mutual respect. They noted that cultural diversity plays an important role in innovation and creativity in various fields.
